Your child can understand something brilliantly and still struggle with the way it is taught, explained or expected to be shown.
How they take in information, make sense of it and express what they know are all part of learning, and each matters.
In this workshop, you'll explore what each of these looks like for your child and identify the conditions that help them understand, engage and show what they can do.
You'll leave with a clearer picture of how learning works for your child.

What helps my child want to learn?
A child can be full of curiosity about the things that matter to them and seem completely unmotivated by learning at school.
Motivation isn't simply something a child has or doesn't have. What they are being asked to do, whether it connects with their strengths and interests, and how they experience themselves as a learner can all make a difference.
In this workshop, you'll explore what sparks your child's curiosity and use those clues to understand what helps them engage and where their strengths and interests can create ways into learning.
You'll leave with a clearer picture of what helps motivation grow for your child, and something purposeful to try.

How can I turn what I know into better conversations with school?
You can know your child incredibly well and still struggle to get the things that matter across in conversations with school.
You may be holding years of observations, experiences, reports and examples of what does and doesn't work. The challenge is bringing that information together in a way that makes it meaningful and useful in an educational conversation.
In this workshop, you'll look at what you already know about your child, consider what it tells you about their experience of learning, and translate that understanding into what you want school to know.
You'll leave with a clearer, more useful way to communicate what makes a difference for your child, without having to tell their whole story every time.
