Engaging the strengths of spiky profiles in the classroom: an interactive workshop for educators
This interactive workshop challenges common assumptions about neurodivergent learners, focusing on the often misunderstood complexities of spiky profiles and dual exceptionalities. Designed for UK educators across all key stages, the session encourages a thoughtful shift in perspective, from seeking to change the learner, to creating environments that enable all learners to engage meaningfully.
Participants will explore practical strategies across five key classroom environments: intellectual, creative, social, emotional, and physical. The workshop offers opportunities for discussion, reflection, and practical application, helping educators to identify barriers and opportunities within their own settings.
Educators will leave with greater confidence in recognising the needs of dual exceptional learners and in applying strength-based strategies to create more responsive, supportive, and equitable classroom environments.
